Harrow Town went down by four wickets against Middlesex League Division Three leaders Winchmore Hill as the second half of the season got underway.

The home side chose to bat first, but were dismissed for 178 in 47 overs.

Captain Muhammad Arshad top scored with 56, but opener Charith Gunasekera (30) was the only other batsman to pass 18 for Harrow.

Arshad (2-39) and Buddhi Attanayake had early success in Winchmore Hill’s reply to give the home side a notable boost.

But the visitors had solid contributions from George Saunders (40) and Charlie Avent (45 not out) as they reached their target in 42 overs.

Sam Haider (2-44) also nabbed a brace for Town, who currently lie in sixth place on 45 points after suffering their fifth defeat in 10 outings this season.

They are set to visit Middlesex Tamil Sports & Social Club, eight points behind them, this weekend.
