HSM colts celebrate

Harrow St Mary’s Under-15s are just two games away from becoming national champions after they were crowned London and East champions for the first time.

Saints defeated Mildenhall and Finchampstead in convincing fashion, and they now look forward to playing in the national finals at Shrewsbury School on August 12.

HSM faced a formidable Mildenhall side who were unbeaten all season, but their batsmen tore into them.

Ian Harris made 47 from 41 balls and Kushal Patel 38 from 28, helping their side to 168-6 from their 20 overs.

Mildenhall’s reply was never allowed to get going, as they stuttered to 65-4 from 15 overs, and even a late surge was not enough as they reached 127-4 from their allotted overs – 41 runs short – with Patel

(2-13) and Vaibhav Dubey (1-13) the wicket-takers.

HSM were in similarly devastating form against Finchampstead, who were restricted to 121-8 from their overs. Dubey (2-16), Angus Prevost (2-13), Shaneil Lakhani (1-5) and Patel (1-15) took the wickets, while Nikhil Rawal took three dismissals behind the stumps.

HSM wasted no time in the chase, with Harris making 51 from 36 balls and Rawal blasting 51 from 34, including three sixes.

HSM won at a canter, needing just 14 overs to seal the victory.
