Harrow St Mary’s fell to a six-wicket defeat at Enfield in their latest Middlesex League Division Two outing on Saturday.

Put into bat by the home side, they saw Andre Sharma and captain Ajay Soni (31) put on 59 for the first wicket.

Jane Turner (22) also made a start with the bat, but the visitors were 101-4 before Sam Blennerhassett arrived at the crease and struck seven fours in his 63 from 76 deliveries.

The wicketkeeper’s efforts helped lift the St Mary’s total to 233-9 and Enfield were soon 12-2 in reply, before a 68-run stand got them on track.

Syed Khawar Ali Kazmi made the breakthrough, but Enfield’s fourth-wicket pair ten put on 94 to keep them on track.

Nishad Patel (2-65) nabbed his second wicket for St Mary’s, but there was no getting rid of Max Houlahan, who finished unbeaten on 131 from just 95 balls as Enfield secured victory in 40 overs.

Houlahan hit two sixes and 21 fours in his matchwinning knock as St Mary’s bowlers came in for harsh treatment.
