Harrow St Mary’s under-15 team beat the reigning champions as they became the first Middlesex side to win the ECB National Club title since 1978.

The Saints youngsters defeated Stockton by eight wickets in the semi-finals at Shrewsbury School to book a meeting with High Wycombe, who won the championship as under-13s.

Charanvir Gill (2-33), Amar Dave (1-25), Kushal Patel (1-19) and Vaibhav Dubey 91-14) contributed as Wycombe were restricted to 118-8 from 20 overs.

Nikhil Rawal, who had top scored in the semi-final with an unbeaten 39, followed that up with a knock of 20, while Patel scored 32 before Dave struck the winning runs.

HSM manager Sadhna Patel said: “Of the 12 team members, 10 have been with the club since the age of nine, so seeing this come to fruition is very satisfying.”
