Harman Drive outfit lost by 127 runs last weekend

Brondesbury skipper James Overy labelled Richmond as ‘deserved champions’ of the Middlesex County Premier Division after his side lost by 127 runs against the Old Deer Park outfit.

After losing the toss and being put into the field, Adam Wilson (3-43) and Alistair Wilkinson (3-45) took three wickets apiece for the Harman Drive club to restrict the visitors to 288-9 from their 50 overs.

Anthony Wilkinson then top scored with 55 in reply for Brondesbury, but the hosts were all out for 161.

And after the game, Overy paid tribute to Richmond who won the title having lost just one game all season.

“Richmond are the champions and rightly so. They’ve been the best side we’ve played this season and it was always going to be tough playing them again,” he said.

“There were positives to use to take from the game, but you’re always disappointed when you lose a game.

“We all enjoyed playing against Richmond without any pressure, but they showed why they are deservedly champions.”
