Gary Corcoran believes a change in trainer and gym will help him as he looks ahead to a busy few months in the ring.

The Wembley fighter will step through the ropes at York Hall on Friday night having been added to the Box Nation show in order to have a break in bout under the guidance of Peter Stanley at the Peacock ABC gym in Canning Town.

Corcoran’s last fight in March was a 78-76 points victory against Adam Jones which stretched his unbeaten run to 11 since turning professional in 2011.

Once Friday is out of the way Corcoran will prepare for the biggest fight of his career to date against Liverpool’s Joe Selkirk for the WBO European silver light middleweight title at Wembley Arena on Friday, July 24.

Corcoran, 24, who was previously trained by Mark Tibbs at West Ham ABC is pleased to have a busy schedule ahead of him.

He said: “I was out of the ring for nine months before my last fight and it went the eight rounds. He was tougher than I was expecting and it was good experience to get the rounds in.

“I’m enjoying the training at the Peacock gym. I just felt like I needed a change and working with Peter Stanley means I’m working on new things and the sparring is fresh.

“After the fight on Friday I will focus on Selkirk. We exchanged a few tweets, I was laughing about them. I’m confident I will knock him out and win the belt.”
