Brent Ballers’ under-16 team are enjoying an astonishing upturn in form this season after three straight wins took them to the top of the league.

The team, who play at Preston Manor School, Wembley, lost all nine games in their debut Central Basketball League campaign last year, but have swiftly turned their fortunes around.

Ballers made a winning start to the new season by beating Enfield 52-33 and have followed that up with victories over KBC (51-19) and, most recently, Ealing (47-36).

Former England and GB international Julius Joseph, who coaches the Brent youngsters along with Shernard Wilson, said: “We’ve both tried to use last season as motivation for the kids.

“They trained hard all through the summer to prepare for the league and so far the results have shown that. It has basically been a great demonstration of hard work and determination.”

The club are also fielding an under-14 team for the first time this season and they are also unbeaten after two games – the most recent of which was a 54-3 hammering of Brixton Topcats.
