Boxing: Hammersmith local George Groves bids for WBA world super middleweight title against Fedor Chudinov of Russia

Groves will hope he can finally take world belt at fourth attempt
Hammersmith’s George Groves will be hoping its fourth time lucky on Saturday when he steps into the ring to face Russian Fedor Chudinov for the vacant WBA world super middleweight title.
The fight takes place on the Matchroom Promotion at Sheffield United’s Bramall Lane ground.
Groves has lost in each of his three previous world title fights: twice to Carl Froch and a split-decision against Badou Jack in Las Vegas in 2015.
Harrow Weald super-featherweight Mitchell Smith was given a competitive fight fby Lee Connelly from Derbyshire on the Frank Warren Promotion at the Copper Box Arena.
In what was a keenly-fought contest, it was Smith that slammed home the more effective punches and it was the boxer from Harrow that referee Jeff Hinds awarded the decision to, 59-54.
On the same bill, former Dale Youth youngster Daniel Dubois claimed his third win against Sheffield’s Dave Howe, triumphing inside 40 seconds.
