Brent’s Amanda Epe won Leader of the Year at the England Athletics volunteer awards recently.

Epe, award-winning author of ‘A Fly Girl’ travel book, launched running group Fly Girls in 2016 which holds regular sessions on Sunday mornings, starting at Brent Civic Centre at 9am and lapping Wembley Stadium.

And England Athletics recognised the work that the group does for the health and wellness of BAME and older women by presenting them and Epe with awards for the London region.

The Fly Girls has since expanded into a fitness brand, with free boxfit and dancefit classes being held in Wembley Park for girls and young women aged 12 to 25 in the borough to encourage them to get active.

These take place at the Chalkhill Centre, Wembley, on Saturdays (3.15-4.15pm) and are supported by the Streetgames organisation, with further information available by emailing them at mail@msroseblossom.org.
