Former district stars Uche Ikpeazu and Tafari Moore returned to their roots for the annual Brent Schools FA awards at Capital City Academy.

The evening started with a rousing minute’s applause in honour of the recent losses of two members of the Brent football community, Trevor Hutton and Alex Stephens.

Ikpeazu and Moore, now professional players at Watford and Arsenal respectively, then took part in a question and answer session with the other panel members – Michael Pavey, the deputy leader of Brent Council, Stewart Goshawk from the Wembley National Stadium Trust and Capital City Academy’s director of sport Fiona Dempsey.

Awards were handed out for best attitude, contribution to the team and most improved player, as well as the traditional awards for the Golden Boot winner and player of the season.

At Under-11 level, Jonathan Rowe won the Golden Boot and was named player of the season. Keiron Lake-Bryon was the most improved player, while Anish Sharm was named the player with the best attitude and Jahmar Patterson was recognised for his overall contribution to the team.

The Brent Under-12 side, who finished as runners-up in the league, were recognised for their fine season with Caleb Watts (QPCS) winning the player of the season trophy.

Most improved player went to David Krupinski (St Gregory’s), team contribution to Ray Luka (Kingsbury High), best attitude to Louie Adedeji (Kingsbury High) and the Golden Boot winner was Drillon Krasniqi (Capital City).

The Brent Under-13 team who did the double, winning the Middlesex Cup and the London Cup, highlighted the influence of Cai Burrows, who was named player of the season.

Golden Boot winner was Keiano Joseph, most improved player went to Kyle Mathews, best attitude to Nathan Barnard and the contribution to the team prize was shared by Odain Donaldson and Michael Adjei.

Harry Russell’s goals were a major factor in the Brent Under-14s’ Middlesex Cup victory and he picked up the Golden Boot award. Dylan Singh was named player of the year, Isaac D’Andria was hailed for his attitude, Ashley Hibbert took home the contribution to the team award and Jordan Green was named as the most improved player.

At Under-15 level, Joshua Mambo was named player of the year, best attitude went to Fabian Reid, Reekye Martin was named most improved player, Kwame Boateng was recognised for his contribution to the side and Sami Abraham scooped the Golden Boot award.

Chairman of Brent Schools FA, Chris Ampofo, said: “Huge thanks to everyone who has supported us. It was very special to have Uche and Tafari here. It is great to see two local lads working hard and doing well. They are excellent role models.”
