Wealdstone boss Stuart Maynard was able to draw positives from his side's pre-season stalemate with Billericay Town at Grosvenor Vale.

Giovanni McGregor went closest for Stones - who used six trialists on the night - when his free-kick was tipped onto a post by Dan Wilks.

And Billericay's Moses Emmanuel had an effort against his former club ruled out due to an offside decision in the build-up to him finding the net.

Nathan Ferguson dragged a second-half chance just wide for the hosts, who saw a trialist poke wide from close range ad blaze another chance over.

"It's another game, minutes in the legs," Maynard told the club's social media.

"I think the lads performed to a high level again, I think the lads will be more frustrated than us as a management team.

"We've come out with no injuries but to not score within the game, in the first half I think it could've been probably four or five and in the second half we could've scored three or four."

Visiting keeper Wilks denied Olufela Olomola and McGregor with further good saves as the hosts dominated the opening 45 minutes.

But Isthmian League Premier Division Billericay might have snatched a late winner when one of their trialists went through, only to be denied by the legs of Wealdstone's trialist keeper.

"You've got to give credit to the opposition," added Maynard.

"They defended, they put their bodies on the line, and they got goal-side of the ball very quickly.

"You always have to give credit to the opposition. It's a good test, really hard. It's a good test for us.

"We knew Gary [McCann] and his team would come over here and work really hard and give us a good test and good game and that's what it was."

Stones had claimed a third successive pre-season win when beating National League South side Farnborough Town 4-2 on Saturday thanks to goals from Olomola, Tahvon Campbell and a late brace from a trialist.

And they are set to host League One sides Charlton Athletic on Saturday and Wycombe Wanderers on Tuesday.

Wealdstone's Charles Clayden and Charlie Barker will face their former club in Charlton, who will feature ex-Stones loanees Aaron Henry, Deji Elereme and Harry Isted.

And the fixture with Wycombe, originally due to be played away behind-closed-doors, has been switched to Grosvenor Vale and will be in front of spectators.

Tickets for Saturday's game are priced £10 adults, £5 concessions (including 19 to 23-year-olds) and £4 for under-19s.

Kick-off on Tuesday is at 7.30pm, with tickets priced £10 adults, £5 concessions and £4 for under-18s.
