Asmir Begovic has joined QPR on a one-year deal following his departure from Everton.

The 36-year-old former Portsmouth, Stoke, Chelsea and Bournemouth goalkeeper had two seasons with the Toffees, making 10 appearances, before leaving this summer at the end of his contract having rejected the offer of a new deal.

Begovic takes the number one shirt at Loftus Road after Seny Dieng moved to Middlesbrough.

The Bosnian said on QPR's official website: "This feels great. It's something that's been worked on the past few weeks and I am really excited to be here and can't wait to get started.

"Out of all the conversations I had with different clubs I really felt this was the right move for myself and my family.

"My mentality has never changed, I always see myself as number one and I really want to come here and make a difference."

Rangers boss Gareth Ainsworth added: "This is a huge signing for QPR and for me personally.

"People I talk to in the game cannot recommend his professionalism, the way he is around the place and the leadership he'll bring highly enough.

"Asmir is going to add so much. I'm really looking forward to working with him and the boys are excited for him to come in as well."
