QPR club captain Stefan Johansen has left the club after his contract was mutually terminated - although he insists there is nothing sinister in that.

The 32-year-old joined the R’s on loan from Fulham in January 2021 before making a permanent move in the summer, going on to make 88 appearances overall for the club.

However, the departure was by mutual consent.

Speaking to the club website, Johansen said: "There is no bad blood at all, I have had conversations with the club and I think it’s time to move on.

"It suits all parties that I am leaving now. I have had a great time but do wish that I could have achieved what I came here to do, which was promotion to the Premier League.

"From the moment [boss] Gareth [Ainsworth] walked through the door we got on really well. We respect each other and have a strong relationship.

"He is a great guy and I leave the club with him as a good friend."

Striker Lyndon Dykes had a night to remember as he scored for Scotland in a European Championship qualifying match in Norway.

His goal came three minutes from time, cancelling out Erling Haaland's 61st-minute penalty,

And it got even better just two minutes later as Kenny McLean's last-gasp winner earned Scotland a crucial 2-1 win.

Dykes was delighted with his goal and assist after a challenging night up front on his own in temperatures of about 30 degrees at kick-off.

He said: "It was a tough game, they played well. We didn’t play as well as we wanted to play but I was waiting for that opportunity all night and I was just happy to see it go in.

"It’s a hard position sometimes, it doesn’t always go your way. Balls were coming up to me, flying everywhere and they were probably getting the better of me.

"But I was trying to keep my head and wait for the opportunity.

"I have to keep rolling on and hopefully when the chances come, they go in because the ball rolling in that goal was the slowest thing I have ever seen in my life and I was having a heart attack.

"I was just happy to see it go over the line and obviously when Kenny scored, it was the icing on the cake."

QPR will travel to Austria in July as part of their preparations for the new Championship campaign.

They will head to the north of the country on Thursday, July 6, and play two fixtures during a 10-day stay.

Gareth Ainsworth’s men will play Slavia Prague on Saturday, July 8, at the Raiffeisen Arena in Rohrbach-Berg before visiting Vorwarts Steyr at the Liwest Arena one week later.

The time for the fixture with Slavia Prague, who compete in Czech League Division One is still to be confirmed, while the match against second-tier Austrian club Vorwarts Steyr will be played at 4pm BST.

Other fixtures announced include trips to AFC Wimbledon, Reading and Oxford United, although the Reading game will be behind closed doors.
