Young Brent filmmakers are launching their own documentary film telling their peers’ stories.

Youth Stories of Brent looks at the journeys, hopes, and ambitions of young people from the borough.

The film will launch at a special screening in the Granville Centre, Kilburn, on Saturday. It has been produced alongside media training company You’re Only Young Once. The teenagers involved will get an Arts Award qualification on completing the project.

Budding Harlesden actress Kaiaa Shepnekh-Boston, 13, said: “There has been a lot of negative stories about young people in the press which is very demotivating. We wanted to challenge this one-sided view and tell our own diverse stories.”

Brent’s housing and welfare reform chief Cllr Eleanor Southwood said: “We hope young people continue to share their inspirational stories with each other, break down barriers and feel inspired to succeed.” For free tickets call Nadia Khan at the council: 020 8937 2363.
