Willesden students celebrate record A-level results
Capital City Academy has a 98 per cent pass rate
Students in Willesden were celebrating this morning following a record year of A-level results.
Nervous teenagers arrived in droves this morning to Capital City Academy, in Doyle Gardens, for the annual collection of A-Level results.
However, as pupils tentatively opened their brown envelopes nerves soon turned to joy.
Among the top performers was Diamond Abdulrahim, who scooped two A stars and an A in English Literature, Religious Studies and Media Studies.
Diamond, who is also the school’s head girl told the Times: “I’m overjoyed, I didn’t expect to do that well.”
The 18-year-old has just returned from charitable work in India and will soon be heading to the Middle East to work with disadvantaged children.

She added: “I am lucky that I didn’t have the pressure of getting the results I needed to get to university straight away but I am delighted nevertheless.”
Overall the school had a 98 per cent pass rate with 70 per cent of pupils gaining A* - C grades.
Sharnelle Thomas was another star pupil, the sports mad 18-year-old from Cricklewood, achieved an A* in Business Studies, 2A* in Sport and a B in Psychology.
She said: “I’m over the moon, they went much better than I thought but it was a lot of hard work and I started late.
“I’m going to go to Brunel in September to study sports science.”
Alex Thomas the school’s head teacher said: “This year our students once again received record results.
“This year group have really made a mark at the school and we are both proud of them as individuals and of their results.
“I would like to wish them well on their journey and thank all the staff in supporting them.”
