Willesden Temple held a colourful street party in Deerhurst Road, which also raised more than £2,000 for Manor School in Kensal Rise which is attended by children with special educational needs.

The morning rain didn’t dampen the spirits as residents enjoyed the party games, face painting, ice cream, lunch and the British themed cup cakes.

Sanjay Khetani, 31, one of the organiser, said: “It was a day to celebrate togetherness, forgetting all our differences and just enjoying each others company, it was lovely seeing the locals and temple community enjoying each others company, this made it a truly memorable fun event.”

Kurji Kerai, a temple committee member, added: “Peace and compassion is at the heart of all we do, it was important that we give something back to our local community which we have been a part of for over 40 years.

“All children are special and should be given all the support they can to thrive, and we are happy to help the school in achieving that, a worthy cause.”
