Previously unread African novels can be explored for the first time ever in the UK at Willesden Library next week.
African crime fiction books will be available via e-books at the event on Tuesday.
No one in the country has ever had access to these novels before as they have been unavailable in print.
A host of authors will be at the library, reading extracts of their stories, which will be chaired by Henry Brefo.
Jacob Ross will read from his work, The Bone Readers. Mr Ross a novelist, short story writer, editor and creative writing tutor. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, he has also received Grenada’s highest literary award for his contribution to literature.
Dr Michelle Yaa Asantewa has taught fiction, non-fiction and English literature at London Metropolitan University. She will be reading from her first novel Elijah about a 15-year old boy’s search for cultural identity.
Dr Toby Green is a senior lecturer in Lusphone African History and Culture at Kings College London. Toby will be reading from his Novel Imaginary Crimes (2013) published by Mkuki na Nyota.
The free event will start at 6pm-7.30pm on Tuesday (October 3) at the library in Willesden Green NW10 2SF and you can book online here
