Planning application sought for flats

Property developers have put in a planning application to demolish the Queensbury pub in Willesden Green and replace it with 56 flats.

Fairview New Homes put an application in to Brent Council on October 3 which would also see the Conservative Club torn down to make room for the new homes on the site in Walm Lane.

According to the application, which includes 19 one bed flats, 26 two bed flats and 11 three bed flats, the building would be between five and seven storeys high and would also include a basement for 23 parking spaces for residents.

The pub, which was named as former London Mayor Ken Livingstone’s favourite in an interview with a national newspaper, leases part of the building which was owned by the Conservative Club before Fairview bought it.

The council is currently consulting on the plans and will continue to take opinions and information from residents, customers of the pub and members of the public up until October 26.
