Pupils from Wendell Park primary school in White City visited Mayhew in Trenmar Gardens to tell them all about their Pet Paws project.

The youngsters were awarded £1,500 after pitching their campaign to the London Mayor and chose to gift the money to the animal charity.

Pupils listened to an educational talk and also read to some of the cats still looking for homes.

AJ Ford, deputy head of animal welfare, said: “We are very grateful that Wendell Park primary school selected Mayhew to receive funding from their project. These students are the pet owners of the future and without their valuable support; we wouldn’t be able to help more animals in need.”

The money will go towards buying supplies for the animals including food, toys, bowls, and blankets.
