Wembley students’ standing ovation for Bugsy Malone

LOOKING dapper in their sharp suits and flapper dresses, school students took to the stage to perform Bugsy Malone last week.

Guys and dolls from Copland Community School, in Cecil Avenue, Wembley, won a standing ovation after they delivered a show stopping performance of the musical, set in prohibition New York.

Drama teacher Marion Keely said: “It went really well, the audience absolutely loved it.

“And the students had a blast, especially during the last scene. We had splurge guns and silly string and the final scene at Fat Sam’s all got a bit messy.

“There were definitely some stars of tomorrow on stage.”

The performance was the first big theatre production Copland has put on in nearly a decade, and Ms Keely promise there will be more to come.
