Wealdstone manager Gordon Bartlett was first aware of Enoch Showunmi 15 years ago when he had the striker scouted at Willesden Constantine – and, after may years of perseverance, he has finally got his man.

The Kilburn-born striker joined Luton Town in 2003 and, during three successful seasons at Kenilworth Road, he won two caps for Nigeria before joining Bristol City in 2006.

A loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday was followed by a permanent move to Leeds United. After two seasons at Elland Road the 6ft 5in forward moved to Scotland, joining Falkirk before moving back to England two-years later to sign for Tranmere Rovers.

Notts County swooped to sign Showunmi in 2012 and last season he spent loan periods at Torquay United and Plymouth Argyle.

Bartlett is confident that, once fully fit, the striker can make a significant impact for the Stones.

He said: “I’ve still got the scouting report from Willesden Constantine. He was starting off his career then and he’s coming to us towards the end of it.

“He is big and strong with a wealth of experience. He offers us something different to what we have.”

Bartlett has also added former Harrow Borough midfielder Shaun Lucien to his squad, along with midfielder Daniel Brown from Conference South rivals Maidenhead United.

Bartlett said: “We’ve been looking at Shaun for a little while now and when he was released by Harrow we took a look at him. He has got a lot of ability.

“Daniel is a strong box-to-box midfielder who has played over 150 games at this level so this is a good opportunity for him.”

Veteran striker Scott McGleish has joined the coaching team but will continue to play in the first team.
