YOUNG volunteers have been presented with medals as a reward for their arty New Year's Day Parade.

Brent Youth Volunteers attended a special award ceremony at Brent Town Hall last week with the Mayor of Brent, Cllr Jim O'Sullivan, after winning the Let's Help London Challenge with their environment-inspired display of colourful costumes in the shape of birds, trees and flowers.

Cllr Jim O'Sullivan was awarded a cheque for 7,500 for his Brent Irish Advisory Service by the executive director of the New Year's Day Parade, Robert Bone, which will go towards a community minibus.

Cllr O'Sullivan said: "We are very proud of all the young people who gave up their time to take part in the winning entry for the New Year's Day Parade.

"Their hard work has ensured that Brent has come first in a prestigious competition and the prize money has benefited a very worthwhile cause.
