Protestors demanding stores clear their shelves of Israeli goods amid the Gaza conflict have targeted a supermarket in Alperton.
Members of the Brent and Harrow Palestine Solidarity Campaign were among several groups and individuals which took part in the demonstration inside Sainsbury’s, in Ealing Road on Sunday.
The demonstration was part of a national campaign urging Sainsbury’s to ban the sale of items by companies connected to Israel from its stores.
In addition to the protest, campaigners handed out postcards to shoppers asking them to write to Sainsbury’s in their support.
Martin Francis, chair of BHPSC, said they are urging the supermarket giant to adopt the same police as the Co-Op.
He added: “Sunday was about highlighting our issue.”
The protest has been uploaded on the internet by a shopper who filmed it on his mobile phone. Cllr Carol Shaw, a Jewish councillor for Brondesbury Park, said: “Wars have a way of polarising opinions and anti-Semitism has become fashionable.
“I am sure boycotts are not the way forward.”
A spokesman for Sainsbury’s told the Times they give their customers the opportunity to make their own decisions on what to buy.
