Richard Freeman, 53, from St Neots in Cambridgeshire, and Terance Cape, 43, from New Cross, will appear in court

Police have charged two men in relation to the violent scenes that marred Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.

Richard Freeman, 53, from St Neots in Cambridgeshire, and Terance Cape, 43, from New Cross, South East London, will face charges following Saturday’s clashes which yielded 14 arrests inside the stadium.

Freeman appeared in custody yesterday (15) charged with breach of bail conditions and Cape will appear at Hendon Magistrates Court on May 1 to face a charge of racially aggravated behaviour.

Elsewhere a 15-year-old boy from Croydon was arrested on suspicion of ticket touting and was bailed to return to a north west London police station in May.

A 24-year-old man from Camberwell in South East-London was also arrested on suspicion of theft, possession of a Class B drug and possession of a weapon.

He has also been bailed to return to a north west London police station at a later date.

DCI Andy Barnes, who is in charge of the review and investigation into the violent scenes said: “The violence seen at the Millwall v Wigan FA Cup fixture over the weekend is completely unacceptable.”

The charges and arrests followed ugly scenes inside Wembley Stadium as Millwall supporters appeared to clash with each other in the stands towards the end of their side’s 2-0 FA Cup semi-final defeat to Wigan Athletic.

A number of fans were shown on television cameras as they got into scuffles with police officers and with fellow supporters, many were left with blood on their faces.

One fan was seen grinning as he stole a policeman’s helmet and stuffed it inside his jacket in the stadium.

DCI Barnes added: “Officers from Operation Arrowtip are looking to identify all those engaging in disorder and would encourage anyone with information to contact the investigation team on 020 8246 0076 (not 24 hours) or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. All calls will be treated in the strictest confidence.”
