A strike by rail workers that would paralyse the Brent section of the Bakerloo Line has been suspended for a second time today.
Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) working for Network Rail (NR) had announced planned walkouts for 24 hours from 5pm on Thursday and for 48 hours from the same time next Tuesday.
However RMT have announced on its website that the action had been called off following talks with transport bosses involving arbitration organisation ACAS.
Mick Cash, RMT general secretary, said:“Following extensive ACAS talks throughout the weekend RMT has now received a revised offer that enables us to suspend the planned industrial action while we consult in full on the details of the revised package with our Network Rail representatives.”
If the strike, called over a pay dispute, did go ahead no trains would have run north of Queen’s Park as that section relies on NR signals and power supply.
