Times letters: GP merger and Israel

Letters, contributions and comments sent in from Times’ readers this week.
GP’s merger is a disgrace
Mrs Margaret Akers, Ridley Road, Harlesden, writes:
I am writing in response to the article in the Kilburn Times, March 29, concerning the amalgamation of the Buckingham Road Medical Surgery with the Law Medical Surgery.
It states patients were consulted and were happy with the outcome. But the first my friend and I knew about this was about six weeks before the closure when the information was given to me by the pharmacist in the chemist in Harlesden.
The only information from Buckingham Road Surgery was a letter we received about 10 days before they closed. We were never consulted or given any information prior to this and I can’t say either of us is happy. I find this pretty disgraceful with little regard for the patients.
Israel not to blame
David Bond, Brent, full address supplied, writes:
We are witnessing a violent break out on Israel’s border with Gaza. But people watching on TV should be in no doubt that the responsibility for that violence lies unequivocally with the terror group Hamas.
For the next six weeks they will be ordering men, women and children to participate in reckless behaviour designed to provoke violence with the Israeli authorities. And while children are encouraged to throw missiles and climb the border fence, Hamas operatives, disguised as civilians, fire at the Israeli army and attempt to plant explosives on the border.
When that violence leads to civilian casualties the international media and UN criticise Israel. Every time a media outlet or a politician falls for this setup it’s a victory for the terrorists and a defeat for peace.
Israel has no territorial rights in Gaza – they left in 2005. Since 2006 the area has been controlled by Hamas. Peace will only reign in the Middle East when violence is rejected and negotiations take place.
