A newcomer to the political world has stopped Labour from making a clean sweep of the Mapesbury ward by 16 votes.
Helen Carr has been voted in as the only Lib Dem councillor in Brent after receiving 1,257 votes.
She narrowly beat former Stonebridge councillor and ex-Brent Mayor Colum Moloney who received 1,241 votes.
She will be joined by Labour candidates Lia Colacicco and ex-Willesden Green councillor Ahmad Shahzad.
The ward had previously been home to Lib Dem councillors Hayley Matthews, Chris Leaman and Sami Hasmi.
All three stepped down.
As the Lib Dem’s only councillor in the borough Ms Carr is automatically made the leader of her political group in Brent.
Her predecessor Paul Lorber lost his Sudbury seat after 32 years.
