An animal charity in Kensal Green is appealing for donations to help them care for dog at the centre of the worst case of animal cruelty they have ever seen.
Grace is currently at the Mayhew Animal Home in Trenmar Gardens, after being found abandoned in such an emaciated state she was close to starving to death.
The Staffordshire terrier had protruding ribs, a swollen belly and was weak and anaemic when she was dumped by her cruel owner
She had a filthy coat, had been left to soak in her own urine and is suffering from a heart murmur.
The Mayhew vet team immediately drained two litres of fluid out of bloated tummy but she requires further surgery and treatment.
She is currently receiving around the clock treatment but faces a survival battle due to the severity of her condition.
Caroline Yates, Mayhew’s chief executive, said: “I have never seen such severe starvation and malnutrition in a dog in the UK before.
“This is one of the worst animal cruelty cases I have ever seen.
We don’t know if she’ll make it as she is having more surgery.
“We are doing everything we can to help her. All she wants is a cuddle. It’s amazing she has any faith in human beings after what she’s been through.”
Because Grace was not microchipped her owner will escape punishment as they are untraceable.
