An animal charity is inviting golf lovers to attend a special sporting event and raise funds for their cause.

The Mayhew Animal Home in Trenmar Gardens, Kensal Green, are holding their first ever charity Golf Day at Stanmore Golf Club next month.

The sanctuary is currently inundated with kittens including a stray litter which arrived yesterday who have all been named after sports personalities or golfing terminology due to the upcoming charity event.

It costs more than £3,400 a day to keep the rescue centre operational and money from the event will help care for kittens like Tiger, Birdie, Rory, Bogey, Sergio and Eagle.

The event is a four-ball stableford competition with best two scores counting on each hole and best three scores on all par threes.

There is a choice of two different types of tickets for the event on September 16.

Lisa Houlihan, The Mayhew’s events officer, said: “We are very excited to be hosting our first ever golfing event at Stanmore Gold Club and we hope to hear from lots of golf-enthusiasts keen to have a great day out and support our animals at the same time.”
