A rugby club in Brent got a £1,000 cash boost when they treated customers to a fun day in Neasden.

The Kilburn Cosmos junior team, who train in Gladstone Park in Anson Road, Cricklewood, attended the club’s fundraising day by packing customers’ shopping at the Tesco Extra store in Great Central Way.

An inflatable rugby game in the car park tested customer’s accuracy and speed. Customers that hit the target received rugby balls and the top scorer of the day received an official England rugby t-shirt.

They also enjoyed a range of pies and ales to celebrate six weeks of the Rugby World Cup in the UK.

Tesco made a £1,000 donation to the Kilburn Cosmos Junior and mini team by way of supporting the club.

The Kilburn Cosmos have been part of the local community since 1996. Their aim is to make rugby as accessible as it can be to the local community and they welcome players of all ages and abilities who want to play rugby in a fun and safe environment.

Scott Walder, Tesco Extra store manager, said; “The atmosphere was fantastic all afternoon and created a real buzz around the rugby tournament.”

Paul Quinn, from the Kilburn Cosmos, said: “We were delighted to be involved with the rugby fun day at Tesco Wembley Extra and would like to thank the team for their generous donation which will provide special player of the week t-shirts for the mini and junior teams at the club.”
