Talks to avert a Tube strike on August 5 have been suspended following claims that transport bosses breached safety protocols over the weekend.

The RMT union were due to meet with London Underground and conciliation service Acas this morning but instead will speak to the Office of Rail and Road (ORR), the watchdog responsible for transport safety, following the allegation.

The city was brought to a standstill by a 24-walkout on July 8 and 9, in a dispute over the new all-night Tube, which resulted in no services on any Tube lines.

A second wave of action is planned for August 5.

More to come.
