A survivor of two Serbian concentration camps will be speaking in public for the first time about his experiences at an event taking place in Brent next week.
Sabit Jakupovi?, BA HIS, EDU HONS, is one of the guest speakers at Holocaust and Genocide Memorial Day which has organised by Brent Council.
Mr Jakupovi? will talk publicly for the first time about his personal journey of genocide survival and how he has been affected.
Other speakers include Brent resident Leslie Rubner, a Holocaust survivor who will talk about his difficult journey escaping Nazi persecution.
The annual free event next Monday is held to honour the victims of the Holocaust and other genocides.
The theme of this year’s event is ‘Journeys and how they are undertaken to escape persecution’ which will encourage guests to reflect on the impact of genocide in the past.
They will also be encouraged to take a personal pledge to challenge prejudice, persecution and genocide.
There will also be a musical performance by Brent Music Service string quartet and light refreshments will be served.
The free event is open to all and no booking is required.
