A Kenton charity’s summer appeal where a handcrafted daisy was planted for each person who donated to the cause has raised £8,000.

More than 200 people gave generously to the campaign by St Luke’s Hospice in Kenton Road, which asked them to help a patient in a crisis by giving emergency end of life care in people’s homes.

St Luke’s Single Point of Access (SPA) service helps give patients, carers and health care professionals – a single number they can call 24 hours a day for end of life care advice and support.

The hospice’s rapid response team can also provide emergency care to patients at home.

The money raised will found around 225 visits from a St Luke’s health care assistant to provide practical end of life support in a person’s home.
