PUPILS who took part in writing workshops with the Royal Shakespeare Company for the theatre group were delighted to see their finished work performed on stage.

Year 10 students of Claremont High School in Claremont Avenue, Kenton, watched the RSC perform four short plays, which they based on the themes of Shakespeare's Macbeth, in a pre-curtain show at the Hampstead Theatre in Avenue Road, Swiss Cottage, on Thursday last week.

The show, called Armed and Ready, was followed by play Dunsinane by playwright David Grieg, who had also helped out in the writing workshops with the RSC.

English teacher, Miranda Maund said: "It was fantastic.

"The students were amazed to see their work up on stage performed in such an amazing way, and it really validated their work and gave it meaning beyond the page which is part of the new Key Stage 3 curriculum.
