Preston Manor School (PMS) has celebrated a successful bout of A-level results with not a single pupil taking the exams failing to make the grade.

Hoards of nervous teenagers went back to the school, in Carlton Avenue East, Wembley, for the annual collection of A-Level results.

This year, the school achieved 66 per cent A* to B grades. Every student passed their tests with at least a grade E or above.

Matthew Lantos, headteacher at PMS said: “Students and staff have worked very hard together this year to achieve these excellent results. We’ve focused more closely than ever on identifying gaps in students’ skills or understanding and teachers have coached them to close these gaps. As a result most of our students will have gained places on their chosen courses of their choice and many will be attending Russell Group universities Oxford and Cambridge.”

One student, Charith Perera, of Wembley, who achieved A*s in biology, chemistry and maths respectively, walked around in disbelief after finding out he has been accepted into the prestigious Oxford University to study bio-chemistry –becoming the first person in his family to enter tertiary education.

“Words fail me,” the 18year-old said.

“It still hasn’t hit me. I feel very strange but obviously happy with what I have achieved.

“My parents are delighted, my mum is in tears. I would like to thank staff and teachers at the school for supporting me throughout. I am very grateful for their efforts.”

Those doing their AS levels discovered the fruits at their labour at a slightly later time than their seniors.

Ramya Gocouladasse, 17, took positive steps forward toward her aspiration to study general engineering at Nottingham or Durham Universities, already securing a maths A-level achieving an A grade. She was also awarded As in her AS subjects: history, physics and chemistry respectively.

“I am genuinely surprised,” she said. I did not come out of anyone of those exams thinking I did well. I am really pleased.
