Police and the London Fire Brigade were called shortly before 1pm after 60mph winds blew off a section of roofing which fell outside Costa Coffee.

A Met spokeswoman said: “Police in Brent were called to Kilburn High Road at 12.53pm on Thursday February 23 following reports of a part of a roof from a block of flats being blown off due to high winds.”

The A5, Kilburn High Road, was closed in both directions with motorists advised to avoid the area whilst the incident was being dealt with.

A spokesman for London Fire Brigade confirmed a crew was called out just after 1pm this afternoon where they helped bring the loose section of roofing safely to ground level. They left the scene at 2.50pm.

Bus routes 16, 32, 98, 206, 316, 328 and 332 - which had all been on diversion - have returned to their usual routes.
