TUESDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL RYMAN LEAGUE ROUND-UP

WEALDSTONE secured their first win of the season in style on Tuesday night, putting four unanswered goals past Sutton United in the second half at Grosvenor Vale.

Gordon Bartlett's side faced tough opposition from their visitors, who came down from the Conference South last season, and there seemed little chance of an emphatic victory after a goalless first half.

But man of the match Alan Massey stepped up in the 54th minute to drive a stunning shot over United's keeper, before remarkably repeating the feat six minutes later.

Receiving the ball with his back to goal, the centre back turned and arrowed a low left-footed shot into the bottom corner to double the home side's lead.

With six minutes remaining left-back Lee Chappell broke out of defence, beat his man and finished with aplomb to make it three.

And in the final minute of normal time Ryan Ashe put the icing on the cake when he converted from debutant striker Callum Martin's cross.

And Harrow Borough climbed off the bottom of the table as they also recorded their first victory of the campaign, beating Hastings United 2-0 away.

n HENDON were unlucky to lose 1-0 at home to Billericay Town in a game of two goalkeepers.

After six minutes a shot from the highly-rated Bradley Wood-Garness was powerfully struck but Joe Welch should have done better and parried the ball into the net.

At the other end five minutes later, Jack Buckfield produced a magnificent save to keep out a close range Brian Haule header.

Billericay looked dangerous every time they attacked and after 23 minutes nearly doubled their lead when Dave Wareham headed against the post.

In the second half Hendon created a large number of chances but a mixture of good goalkeeping from Buckfield and two or three near misses meant they finished the game goalless and pointless.
