A Labour MP who has been campaigning for tougher measures on pay day lenders will be speaking about the issue at a public debate in Queen’s Park.

Stella Creasy, Labour MP for Walthamstow in east London, will be on a panel, alongside Jacky Peacock from Fair Credit Campaign and Cllr James Denselow, who has been promoting the use of credit unions in the borough.

The debate will take place as part of a series of public forums in Queen’s Park organised by the local Labour Party.

Tulip Siddiq, Labour Parliamentary candidate for Hampstead and Kilburn, who will be chairing the event, said: “The cost of living crisis means that more and more people are turning to pay day lenders and loan sharks. It’s essential that we work together to protect our vulnerable residents from getting trapped into a vicious cycle of debt.”

“How to shape your area – from consumerism to co-production” will take place on April 3 at Salusbury Rooms in Salusbury Road, from 7-pm – 8.30pm.

All are welcome.
