A bitter stand off is expected after protestors camping on the site of a proposed controversial new school have been told to leave the ground by 6pm tonight (Tuesday).

A court hearing at Willesden County Court in Acton Lane, Harlesden, ordered the protestors to leave 'Tent City' and for the land to be given to Brent Council.

Members of the Wembley Park Action Group (WPAG) have said they will ignore the court order and remain on the site until Brent Council goes back on plans to build a school there.

The group have been camping on the playing fields in Bridge Road, Wembley, for two weeks in a protest at plans to build an academy school on the site.

The court also ordered that the defendant, Hank Roberts, National Union of Teachers secretary for Brent and WPAG member, would need to ask permission to visit the land if he wished to in the future.

Mr Roberts said: "Nothing is going to stop me from continuing to oppose this disgraceful scheme.

"It is Brent Council that have acted undemocratically and unlawfully and have caused harm and discrimination to South Brent pupils. Even if I wanted to give up, conscience wouldn't allow it."
