With not a sleigh in sight, hundreds of Santas dashed around the streets raising thousands of pounds for a charity in Kenton.
More than 400 people of all ages dressed in Santa suits did a three-mile dash in Pinner in aid of St Luke’s Hospice in Kenton Road, including pupils from eight schools in the area.
Everyone who took part received a well-deserved mince pie, medal and hot drink on completion.
Hannah David, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Harrow East, joined in with the fun thought the atmosphere was ‘electric.
She said: “Having lost my own father to cancer earlier this year, I know how important the services provided by St Luke’s are. It is a cause very close to my heart, and that is why I was thrilled to take part in this year’s Santa Dash, to help raise awareness and much needed funds for the Hospice. The atmosphere was electric, and there was a real feeling of a community coming together for the greater good.”
More than £7,000 was raised with donations still coming in for the hospice which costs £3million a year to keep open.
Rowan Lindsay from Lawrence Grant Chartered Accountants, the main sponsors for the event, said: “It was great to support the fantastic work done by St Luke’s Hospice. T
“he genuine caring attitude of the nurses, caterers, therapists, administrators, cleaners, builders and all volunteers are what makes this perhaps the most effective and life changing charity.”
