Richard Dunne is expecting a very difficult away day on Saturday when QPR face local rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The game against Jose Mourinho’s side will be Dunne’s third since winning his place back in the Rs starting XI and hopes to pick up the first away win of the season.

He said: “I don’t think I’ve ever won there.

“It’s certainly a tough place to go certainly when Mourinho’s been in charge. It’s 11 v 11 from the start and we have to go for it and make sure we work twice as hard as them.

You can see by the start to the season, they’ve been blowing teams away, so we know how difficult it’s going to be.”

Dunne was key to Rangers picking up a clean sheet in the 2-0 win against Aston Villa on Monday night and has pinpointed Chelsea’s threat from set pieces as something the Rs must deal with.

He added: “They are so good on set pieces. We have time to work on it and hopefully we can stop them.

“We have to be on their toes and work as a team defensively. They create so many chances we know it’s going to be difficult.

“They all know what they’re doing. It’s his way or the highway and they all buy in to what he’s doing. They get the rewards by winning trophies. He’s a top manager with top players at his disposal.”

Mourinho is likely to play Diego Costa from the start if the Spanish international has recovered from injury issues which have seen him miss two matches, and Dunne is well aware of the attacking options he will be asked to deal with.

Dunne said: “We’ve got to do what we can to try and keep the ball out of the net, whether it’s Costa, [Didier] Drogba or [Loic] Remy, we know what they’re all about. We’re going to have a right job on our hands.

“He (Drogba) looked it on Sunday [against Manchester United] and scored a great goal at the near post, like the goal he scored in the Champions League final. He’s always going to be a threat, and with the chances Chelsea create, if he gets room he will score.

“Regardless who plays for them we’re going to have to defend really well.”
