A project that aims to make Sudbury Town a ‘greener, cleaner and safer area’ has been given the thumbs up from residents following a referendum.

An overwhelming 94 per cent of voters said yes to a new Sudbury Neighbourhood Plan which will now be used by Brent Council to guide development and planning decisions in the area.

Prepared by the Sudbury Town Residents Association, the plan will promote a mix of uses within the area, protect open space, set design standards and also support development that strengthens Vale Farm as a centre for sports excellence.

Cllr Margaret McLennan, Brent Council’s lead member for housing and development, said: “It is fantastic to see how this local community has worked together to create Brent’s first ever Neighbourhood Plan.

“I’d like to congratulate everyone on their effort and hope that other people will be inspired by their hard work and dedication, which will certainly pay off in helping shape their local area in the future.”
