Residents of Willesden Green are set to launch an electoral platform that will stand against mainstream parties at the next council elections.
Make Willesden Green is an initiative by residents who have camapigned to save public services in Brent such as libraries, schools, and Central Middlesex Hospital’s accident and emergency department.
Make Willesden Green candidate, Alex Colas, said: “Our councillors have let the local community down on multiple occasions over the past few years, and mainstream parties have responded poorly to our concerns.
“It’s time now to stand an independent, grassroots candidate that will fight for a more democratic, more equal and publicly-oriented neighbourhood and borough.
“Our campaign will place the defence of public services and community assets, affordable housing, public health and quality, state-funded schools at the centre of next year’s local elections.”
The launch of Make Willesden Green is tonight, (23) from 6pm-7pm at the Queensbury Deli, 68 Walm Lane, Willesden Green.
