RESIDENTS have complained about damage done to a war memorial outside a bus station, writes Ben Greening.

The war memorial was damaged during construction work at a bus depot on Willesden High Road, Brent.

An employee of Metroline, which runs the bus terminal, said the damage to the marble memorial was 'disrespectful.'

The man, who asked not to be named, said he was informed on asking about whether the memorial would be replaced, that 'a like for like' memorial was not planned.

"I was told that something else from marble was planned," he said.

He added: "I would hate to feel that a poor or cheap alternative be sought by Metroline and the builders responsible for the damage."

Metroline had not responded to inquiries as the Times went to press.
