Rs man started his second game of group stage in Houston

Queens Park Rangers youngster Michael Petrasso played the full 90 minutes as Canada drew 1-1 with Costa Rica in Group A of the Gold Cup.

The 22-year-old, normally deployed as a winger by the west Londoners, lined up at right-back for the Canucks in the American city of Houston.

Octavio Zambrano’s men took the lead in the 26th minute through Vancouver Whitecaps teenager Alphonso Davies.

However, Costa Rica drew level three minutes before the break when Minnesota United defender Francisco Calvo found the net.

Neither side could find a way through in the second period, ensuring a share of the spoils in the second group stage match for both sides.

The draw with Costa Rica followed a 4-2 win for Canada over French Guiana on Friday, in which Petrasso also played the final 90 minutes at right-back.

The Canucks play their final group stage match against Honduras in Frisco, Texas on Friday, knowing a win would take them through to the knockout stages.
