Queens Park Rangers bid to continue their rich vein of form in the Championship when they visit Hull City on Saturday.
The Rs have taken 11 points from their last six games, a run which places them fifth in the league’s form table over that period.
Their form in recent weeks has seen them all but secure their place in the division next season, with 16 points and seven places separating them from the drop zone.
With safety virtually secured, Ian Holloway’s men can play with more freedom over the closing weeks of the campaign.
But striker Matt Smith hopes that does not lead to results tailing off, like it did last term for the Loftus Road club.
“Last season, we had a great spell in February and March, then we had the international break and after that it was a disappointing end to the season,” he told the club website.
“It’s a different feel now and we can hope for a strong finish.”
Smith will hope he can play as big a role against Hull this weekend as he did in the 4-1 win at home to Norwich City on Easter Monday.
The QPR target man scored one and provided two assists as Holloway’s men thumped the Canaries.
It was a fine performance from Smith, and one the 28-year-old ranks among is greatest since moving to west London in January 2016.
“Potentially it’s my best display for QPR. With two assists and a goal, there was a lot I contributed to,” added the former Fulham attacker.
“Whether or not it’s my best, I was also very happy with my performance against Aston Villa, but potentially it was.
“It was a good day for us all and I’m happy we have something to show we have something to show for a good performance.”
Smith’s goal against Norwich was his first for QPR since scoring in a defeat at home to Nottingham Forest on February 24.
The striker beat Canaries stopper Angus Gunn to a high ball, and Smith believes that was down to having a greater determination than the keeper to win the duel.
“It was up there in the air and it boiled down to who wanted it more, which was me,” he said.
“My job is to always be a nuisance and a physical presence. I’ll always put my body in where it hurts and luckily I was able to get on the end of it.”
QPR, meanwhile, have confirmed Jamie Mackie, James Perch and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas will all leave the club when their contracts expire in the summer.
Nedum Onuoha and Jack Robinson are both also out of contract this summer, but talks remain ongoing to keep the defensive pair at Loftus Road.
