Queens Park Rangers midfielder Josh Scowen says he is relishing his return to former club Barnsley in the Championship on Tuesday night.

The 24-year-old spent two-and-a-half seasons with the Tykes before leaving in the summer and joining the Rs on a free transfer.

Scowen has fond memories of his time at Oakwell having been part of the Barnsley side which won promotion from League One in 2016.

And with the midfielder set to make his first return to the club since leaving in the summer, he is eagerly anticipating Tuesday’s game.

“I’m looking forward to the game, it will be nice to go back there,” Scowen told the club website.

“Hopefully I’ll get a good reception. I’ve got plenty of great memories from my time there so it will be nice to see some familiar faces.

“Barnsley are a good side. We’ve got to make sure we go there and play the way we have been playing this season.

“If we can do that then I think we’re more than good enough to come away with the three points.”

Scowen has impressed plenty of the QPR faithful with his performances since arriving in the summer.

And the midfielder is happy to have slotted comfortably into life with the west Londoners.

“I have settled in rather easily here at QPR and it’s nice to come in to somewhere and be playing straight away,” he added.

“I can only thank the gaffer and all the staff who have helped me, plus all the boys as well. They have all made it easy for me to settle straight in.”
