Injuries have restricted defender to just 46 appearances since joining Rs in 2016

Joel Lynch admits he is frustrated that a spate of injuries has blighted his time as a Queens Park Rangers player.

The centre-back joined from Huddersfield Town in the summer of 2016, but has made just 46 appearances in all competitions in the past 18 months because of injuries.

Even this season, the Wales international has had spells on the sidelines with a hamstring injury and a foot ailment.

Now back to fitness, though, Lynch is keen to show everyone what he is capable of in a QPR shirt.

He told the club website: “I am desperate to do well here.

“I know what people must think, that I’m injured quite a lot, but it’s just been really unfortunate for me and I am absolutely gutted with the way my QPR career has started to be completely honest.

“I haven’t been able to have a long run of games and it’s incredibly frustrating.

“I am desperate to do well for QPR and for the fans to like me as a player and appreciate what I can do.”

Having started the last three Championship games for the Rs after recovering from a foot injury, Lynch will hope to keep hold of his place for this weekend’s trip to Bristol City.

The Robins are one of the teams in the promotion hunt this term, and the 30-year-old knows Ian Holloway’s men face a tough task at Ashton Gate on Saturday.

“Bristol City have done really well this season, in the league and the cup,” he added.

“I know a few of the lads there and they’ve got great togetherness in the squad which has really kicked on this year.

“They have had a lot of time together where they have been able to really build something.

“We have a young squad at QPR with some of the boys making their debuts recently and if that is the route we are taking I think you can really use Bristol City as an example of what can be achieved.

“We are looking to get back on track this weekend, get a positive result and then keep improving.”
