QPR defender eagerly anticipating clash with Cottagers on Friday night
Queens Park Rangers defender Jack Robinson is excited for Friday’s west London derby at home to Fulham in the Championship.
The Rs entertain the Cottagers in front of the Sky Sports cameras, looking to get one over their local rivals and one-time tenants at Loftus Road.
QPR head into the game off the back of consecutive draws, but the 24-year-old says Ian Holloway’s men will be fired up to break their four-game winless run in the league.
“We can’t wait for Friday night,” Robinson told the club website. “We’ll rest up, get our recovery in, and make sure we’re ready for the derby.
“You don’t need to look for additional motivation for local derbies — that takes care of itself.
“We need to follow up these couple of draws with a win on Friday and if we do that, we’ll be moving into the international break in the right direction.”
Robinson has had an extended run in the first-team for QPR recently, lasting the distance in each of the west Londoners’ last five matches.
It is a welcome return to regular football for the former Liverpool man, who saw his 2016/17 campaign hampered by injuries.
And though his recent run of games may have come about owing to injuries to others in the QPR squad, Robinson is just happy to be back playing.
“I just want to keep playing games,” he added. “I’ve managed to string together a run of matches now and that was always a target of mine.
“Now it’s time for me to push on and really show what I can do, because I’m really enjoying playing here and I feel my performances are improving week on week.”
