Defender has made eight Rs appearances in all competitions since arriving on free transfer in August

Defender Alex Baptiste says he is happy with how his Queens Park Rangers career has gone to date.

The 31-year-old moved to Loftus Road on a two-year deal in August after having his contract with Championship rivals Middlesbrough cancelled by mutual consent.

Since then, the versatile defender, who can play across the back four, has made eight appearances in all competitions for QPR, and Baptiste has declared himself content with how things have gone so far in west London.

“I feel like I’ve done okay so hopefully I can continue with my performances,” Baptiste told the club website.

“Obviously a month ago I wasn’t playing and we were doing very well so you do start to think how I am going to get into this team.

“During a season injuries and other things happen that give you an opportunity.”

Owing to the international break, QPR are without a match this weekend, before returning to action at Sunderland on October 14.

But after a 2-1 loss at home to local rivals Fulham in the league last Friday, Baptiste feels the gap in games could be beneficial in the long run for the Rs.

“I feel the international break has come at the right time for us,” he added.

“There’s no denying Friday hurt, but now we can get fitter, analyse a few things and look to go again.”
